Finland-built electric car reaches 156 miles per hour on ice
Filed under: Emerging Technologies, Etc., EV/Plug-in, Europe/EU If a car screams across a sheet of ice at such a high speed that the ice is being melted to water, is the car really driving on ice? We'll let everyone ponder that philosophical question as we report that the world's fastest-ever speed by a electric car on ice was reached this week. Finland-based Nokian Tyres promoted its wares by having test driver Janne Laitinen take...

World's largest telescope underway, scientists definitely observe big bang
Once again astronomers are observing formative explosions, but this time a little bit closer to home. Three million cubic feet of planet earth is being blasted from the Chilean Andes as work on what will be the world's largest telescope begins. Editor's note: Jay Fulcher is CEO of video technology company Ooyala. He previously contributed a column about "Fear And Loathing In Online Video." Follow him on Twitter @jbfulcher. While hosting this year's Academy Awards, Billy Crystal cracked, "I prefer the big screen… which is my iPad." Chrome OS coming to ARM?

Chrome OS coming to ARM?
Many moons ago, Google made it quite clear we wouldn't be seeing its browser-based OS on any tablets or phones, but it never said Chrome OS wouldn't run on devices powered by similar silicon. RIM putting BlackBerry 10 test units in developers' hands in May
It's telling, perhaps, when a VP for your company uses the word "finally" while discussing plans to release test models for your upcoming mobile operating system -- but it's certainly a pretty accurate sentiment when dealing BlackBerry 10. Talking up RIM's plans to release up to 2,000 prototypes running the OS at the BlackBerry Jam conference in May, executive Alec Saunders had this to say: "It's tangible evidence of the company...
