Alleged Exynos 5 specs leaked in slide show spyshot
Did the murmurings about a quad-core Galaxy S III this morning leave you feeling a bit... meh? We don't blame you. Sure, four cores and integrated LTE sounds great but (and this is a big "but"), Cortex-A9 is old hat. What we really want to hear about are those upcoming Cortex-A15 chips....

LG Spectrum Review: Head-To-Head With The Nitro HD And Galaxy Nexus

LG Spectrum Review: Head-To-Head With The Nitro HD And Galaxy Nexus
The LG Spectrum isn't necessarily my favorite phone. It's got pretty nice specs and a killer screen, but there's something to be said about the way a phone draws you in from across the room. I don't mean to get all romantic or dramatic about it, but it's still true: appearance matters....

Mozilla caves, will support H.264 to avoid 'irrelevance'
It looks like Mozilla is ready to throw in the towel in its battle against the patent-laden H.264 video codec. Over the last week or so, the software foundation has struggled publicly with whether or not to support the MPEG-LA-owned format. Now several of Firefox's biggest players have all come out in support of the move and all that's left is to actually bake the appropriate code into the browser....

Apple touts three million new iPads sold since launch
Sure Apple was being a bit cagey when it talked up its "record" iPad sales early today, but now the company's got something a bit more concrete, talking up the three million tablets that have been sold since it hit the market on Friday. The company's SVP Philip Schiller called the figure "the strongest iPad launch yet." The "resolutionary" tablet is currently available in ten countries, and will be coming to...

Sharp intros underwhelming RW-T110 Gingerbread tablet with NFC, not much else on board
Last year, we saw Sharp bust out an array of 7-inch Android slates, including that NFC-packing RW-T107. Now, the Japanese company is adding a slightly larger member to the family, dubbed RW-T110. This 10.1-inch Gingerbread slab (sorry, Ice Creamers) is sporting a 1GHz TI OMAP processor alongside 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage, a 1280 x 800 display as well as an NFC chip....

If Barnes & Noble Wants To Take Its Nook Tablet Abroad, It Has A Lot Of Work To Do
An enlightening and frustrating evening in equal measure this evening in London, where Barnes & Noble sponsored a Nook developer event and panel discussion on the state of the tablet market. The bookseller is definitely planning to launch its tablet outside of the U.S. — the company has confirmed as much, and the fact that they're here in London attests to that — but after a developer event at Mobile Monday London...

Consumer Reports is learning all sorts of things about the Fisker Karma now that it has purchased one for testing, only to have it die with less than 200 miles on the odometer. Android study finds privacy and security risks related to in-app advertising
Android has certainly taken heat for malware-related bits in the past. Now, a recent study by computer scientists at North Carolina State University reveals that over half of the 100,000 apps from the Android Market Google Play include so-called ad libraries, which are essentially handed out by Google or third-party devs to retrieve ads from servers and launch them on your phone....

Fly Or Die: Highlight

Fly Or Die: Highlight
Opinions on the new break-out social location app Highlight certainly aren't in short supply. Alexia thinks that friend-of-friend notifications should be customizable and that women may have trouble getting on board with the idea of constantly broadcasting their location. Eldon thinks that Highlight goes past social networking to be a potential business card swapping service, leaps ahead of a similar style app called Bump....

Seagate releases GoFlex Satellite firmware update: improved battery life, WiFi passthrough
There's nothing quite like under-promising and over-delivering, and it seems that we've got just that scenario in the case of this here rumor-turned-reality. After hearing that Seagate was planning to update the firmware on its GoFlex Satellite streaming hard drive, the company has indeed released version 1.3.5.015 today, a 51MB file that makes quite a few succulent changes....

eSport Clip is an unbelievably cheap 4GB PMP with a 5MP camera
$22 -- seriously -- that's all Walmart wants for this 4GB PMP that sports a 1.8-inch color screen and a 5-megapixel camera. If the eSport Clip's relatively paltry internal memory doesn't get you excited, you can always add more thanks to the empty microSD slot. That shooter can do video as well as stills, and there is an included suite of effects....

A closer look at Apple TV's software update and 1080p movies
The new iPad was upgraded with a display an HD junkie would give his universal remote for, but the Apple TV simply received an update to a capability many believe the original should've had the first go around: support for 1080p content. In addition to that all-important resolution bump, both this and the last-gen model received a modest software update that brings a few features and enhancements....

Google gets go ahead to provide video services to all Kansas City residents
In what may be a watershed moment for in-home entertainment, both Kansas and Missouri have given Google permission to provide video services to Kansas City residents as a part of its Google Fiber project. Missouri's Public Service Commision gave Big G the thumbs up on March 1st, and Kansas' Corporation Commission followed suit last Friday, meaning Google now has the green light to provide video services to residents on either side...

SoLoMo: CityMaps Nabs $2.5M To Render Your City, One Block At A Time
Maps have been around for millenia, but for a significant chunk of that time, they remained static, two-dimensional forms, rendered by hand on paper. It sounds crude now, even as services like Wave have us mapping our worlds with our smartphones like explorers of old. Today, with the ridiculous amount of data available on the Web and in the cloud, maps have become something else entirely, our surroundings coming alive in...

Toyota increasing Prius C production to meet high demand at home and abroad
Filed under: Hybrid, Manufacturing/Plants, Toyota, Japan When we last asked Toyota representatives about the production capacity of the 2012 Toyota Prius C, we were told the company's Iwate, Japan plant could make up to 30,000 units each month. That sounds like a lot, but Toyota is currently sending just 20 percent - 6,000 a month - to the U.S. Back in December, when the car went on sale in Japan, the company received...

When Apple dropped the second developer preview of Mountain Lion on Friday it didn't see fit to include release notes, instead leaving it to us and the rest of the blogosphere to dig up the new features ourselves. Samsung Fined In Korea (Again) For Obstructing Price Fixing Investigation
When Samsung (among others) was called out for taking part in a mobile price-fixing scheme last week I expected the company to pony up the 14.2 billion won and keep their collective heads down for a while. That would've been the smart move: pay up, show remorse, move on, etc. A few Samsung execs had a different idea though....
