Foursquare Finds Its Way To Windows Phone 7

Foursquare Finds Its Way To Windows Phone 7
Ah-hah! There we go. Just days ago we were pointing out how strange it was that Foursquare still didn't have a proper Windows Phone 7 application (especially as Microsoft had touted Foursquare around as a partner since the very beginning), and now they've gone and made things right. Following Gowalla into the Windows Phone fray by less than a week, Foursquare has just pushed their official WP7 application into Microsoft's Marketplace....

480-mile road trip in a Nissan Leaf? It's possible and positive
Filed under: EV/Plug-in, Green Culture, Nissan 2011 Nissan Leaf - Click above for high-res image gallery We'd venture a guess that most Nissan Leaf owners wouldn't trek from San Diego, CA to Tucson, AZ - a distance of approximately 480 miles - in their electrified hatchbacks. The Leaf has many skills, but, as we all know, tackling long-distance trips in a reasonable amount of time isn't the Leaf's forte....

Google's Nexus Contraptions Bring A Rube Goldberg Diversion To YouTube
Here's a good way to spend the last few hours of your work week as we head into the long holiday weekend: Google has just launched a new game called Nexus Contraptions. It's full of slick graphics, physics, and gadgetry, and while I'm not entirely sure what it has to do with Android, it's fun. The game is similar to a handful of games you'll find on Android and iOS (or, for...

Rugged gadgets put to the test in Engadget labs, wanton destruction ensues
Lets be honest, we've all had those moments where we've wanted to hit our phone with a hammer or throw our laptop against the wall. Generally though, we resist those urges, knowing full well that it would spell the end for our precious gadget. There's a special class of rugged devices though, that are designed to withstand anything you throw at it -- or throw it at, as the case may...

Adobe lures unhappy Final Cut Pro X users with half-price video editing tools
To say the latest version of Final Cut Pro wasn't well received, would be a major understatement. Well, Adobe hasn't wasted any time taking advantage of consumer discontent, and is now offering dissatisfied users of Apple's video editing software a 50 percent discount to make the switch to its alternatives, Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and CS5.5 Production Premium....

Samsung refreshes 13-inch Series 9 laptop, adds two 11-inchers to the mix
It's only been three months since we drooled over the thin, powerful, expertly built -- and expensive! -- Samsung Series 9. Of course, that's dog years in the world of consumer electronics -- the company has just refreshed its premium 13-incher, adding a Core i7 processor option, a 256GB SSD in the highest-end model (up from 128GB), and up to 6GB of RAM....

Toyota Scion iQ EV plugs-in for official 2012 launch
The Scion iQ, Toyota's tiny EV car that could, got an official 2012 launch yesterday at the automaker's annual dealer meeting in Vegas. The quiet, though far from specific launch announcement frees this 65 mile-per-charge roadster from its pre-production limbo. Shown off last March at the Geneva Motor Show, the Scion iQ had been put on indefinite hold while factory production in the carmaker's disaster-stricken homeland ramped back up to speed....

It may not be all that fast in the broader world of aircraft speed records, but French pilot Hugues Duval still has a fair bit to boast about with his latest accomplishment. A computer solving a Rubik's cube? P'shaw. Doing it in 10.69 seconds? Been there, record set. But to crack one of any size? Color us impressed. Erik Demaine of MIT did just that, developing an algorithm that applies to cubes no matter how ambitious their dimensions. Pretty early on, he realized he needed to take a different angle than he would with a standard 3 x 3 x 3 puzzle, which...

This feature, called BlackBerry Bridge, lets your tablet piggyback on a handset's 3G data connection, also enabling access to productivity apps like email and calendar, which are still otherwise unavailable on the PlayBook....

This one works on the 1700MHz AWS band, so it appears destined for duty in the pockets of T-Mobile's magenta-clad masses, though we can't say for sure....

Samsung To Apple: You Say "Copyist," We Say "Competition"
The saga continues, but at least this time we get to giggle at the tech giants' use of sarcasm. Entangled in a patent battle with Apple, Samsung has switched up its approach to the copycat case, dropping two patents and adding another four. The South Korea-based company is also snarkily redefining the meaning of the word "copying," opting for the less leechy term, "competing." According to the freshly filed paperwork, "the Samsung...
